"Don't Judge, Educate."
Since the passing of Henry’s Uncle, we have been truly blessed to meet some of the most amazing mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters who have lost a loved one to the Opioid crisis.
During the week of April 22, 2019, Henry’s Uncle went to the Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit in Atlanta, GA. This Summit brought roughly 4,000 people together; from government agencies, advocates, doctors, and law enforcement to educate and share ideas on how tackle a crisis that claimed over 70,000 lives in 2017.
One of the most moving speeches during the week was during the Presidential Speech when Senior Special Agent Ervin Thomas Murphy shared his family story about how they lost their beloved son to heroin and fentanyl in 2017. Special Agent Murphy’s message was powerful, yet simple: “Don’t Judge, Educate.” The stigma around addiction needs to end.
When people ask how Henry’s Uncle passed, we want people to be honest with their answer. Don’t sugarcoat your response. He passed due to a lethal combination from oxycodone and fentanyl. It is our duty to speak openly and honestly so we can help turn the tide and end the stigma around addiction.
We urge you to watch this 5 minute speech from Special Agent Ervin Thomas Murphy.
